What is a Retreat?
A retreat offers a time and place to get away from the noise of our daily lives and busy world to find God who offers us inner peace and renewed commitment. It is a welcome stop on our faith journey where we can find refreshment for body‚ soul and spirit. It is an opportunity to refocus ourselves within God's loving embrace‚ either alone or with others.
During a retreat you may wish to meet with a spiritual director or have time and space to be on your own. Arrangements can be made ahead of your stay to match an appropriate guide for your personal needs. Spiritual directors are accustomed to answering questions and meeting first time retreatants as well as the more seasoned and can suggest the right fit and best retreat for you. St. Raphaela Center is a Catholic retreat house with a spiritual tradition rooted in Ignatian Spirituality. We welcome people of all religious persuasions in a spirit of ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue.
Types of Retreats
An individual may come to the center for a few hours, for a few days, or for an extended period of time. During this time the retreatant may meet with a spiritual director or have personal prayer on their own. To make arrangements for an individual retreat, please contact us by phone (610-642-5715) or email.
Days of Prayer or Twilight Retreats
These are planned thematic programs of three to five hours held during the day or evening. They can be customized to the particular needs of the group. Groups can range from small to large groups numbering from two to eighty persons. Group days of prayer may include Mass and time for personal prayer with midday and/or evening meal provided. Members of the staff are available to help group leaders to plan the days of prayer or twilight retreats. Elementary, High School and College Retreats are usually organized by the staff of the respective school. The Retreat Center Staff is here to assist with planning, use of space, and scheduling of activities. Student retreats are flexibly planned for twilight, day, or overnight time frames.
These retreats can have a planned thematic approach that is suited to the desires of the group attending or they can be planned around a particular need of the group. Group retreats are normally day programs, but they can also be hosted for a weekend or several days depending up the need and desire of the group. A group can provide their own presenter or the contact person can work in conjunction with a staff member to customize the retreat to the particular needs of the group. Groups can range from small to large groups numbering from two to eighty persons. Group day of prayer may include Mass and time for personal prayer with midday and/or evening meal provided. To make arrangements for a Groups Retreat, please contact us by phone (610-642-5715) or email.
A special retreat is held when the individual and/or group desires to have a retreat that is either around a general theme or is planned according to the desires of the individual and/or group. A special retreat is scheduled around the availability of a staff member and around the hopes and desires of the group. Please call the center at 610-642-5715 or email us to discuss various options.
