Centering Prayer

Centering prayer is a way of opening the mind and heart beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. It can help us to receive the gift of experiencing God, who we know by faith dwells within us. If you are looking to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, give centering prayer a try. It just might be the practice that adds the depth and meaning you seek in your prayer life. Read more…

Shawl Ministry

This knitting/crocheting activity is a response of comfort by women for women. In 1998, Janet Severi Bristow and Victoria Galo started this ministry of solidarity as a result of their studies with Sister Therese Winter, MMS.

Sister Kathy Gazie, ACJ has years of experience with Shawl Ministry, and she will even teach you with simple knitting steps! Friends interested in offering a shawl to an expectant mother or other occasion of joy, or to people in challenging situations such as a diagnosis, hospitalization, or death, can come together for this happy, contemplative, and prayerful experience. Taizé Prayer

The practice of contemplative prayer opens us to encounter and to be formed by this love that is poured out. Taizé worship is a contemplative communal prayer service that consists of meditative singing, Scripture reading, and periods of silence in order to reach a contemplative state.

It is an international movement, inspired by an ecumenical interspiritual community in France. At St. Raphaela Center, we integrate our charism of Eucharistic Adoration with this contemplative worship. Join us for a monthly Taizé prayer, including Eucharistic Adoration that will extend in silence until midnight after the hour-long Taizé service. Read more…
