Centering Prayer (Morning)

Date: May 15, 2017 - 10:30am

One way to open the door on this journey of "finding the God within" is through the practice of Centering Prayer, and joining with other companions along the way. It is a surrendering, pure and simple, a practice of letting go of thoughts as they arise. The primary aim is giving consent to the presence and activity of God in one's life. God acts within us doing more than we can even ask or imagine if we let go and trust God. The "deal", according to Cynthia Bourgeault..."When thinking is noticed, let thoughts go without self recrimination; release and let go." In this way, you have a thousand opportunities to turn to God. Practicing Centering Prayer can lead to a more intimate union with God in our daily lives.

Over the last several years our Centering Prayer Program has grown. Under the faithful guidance of Sister Julie Grey, OP, participants have come regularly to our Monday Centering Prayer Group. Centering Prayer is a format of prayer that, if practiced regularly, can change the person’s relationship with God and can foster a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ. You are most welcome to participate in our Centering Prayer Group.

The regular Centering Prayer program begins on September 26, 2016. The Morning sessions will be from 10:30am till 12 Noon, and are offered every Monday. The Evening sessions will be offered on the last Monday of each month from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. All are welcome to attend any or all of these sessions.
